Review: Kat Von D True Romance Palette-Saint

Hello everyone!

Today has been super productive for me. I made 2 sales in my Etsy store in less than 24 hours (huge accomplishment for me haha) and have been busy running around packing and shipping items off as well as selling all my books back to the school.

Since I didn't get to review this palette last Friday, I figured since today was so productive already, why not get more done? I apologize for the poor lighting--it's really gloomy and cloudy out today

First 4 colors: Heavens, Enjoy the Silence, <3, Downtown

Last 4 colors: Sunny, Pray for Me, Bookworm, Caravaggio

**I forgot to take a picture of the mini Autograph eyeliner pencil! Sorry!!

I bought this from Sephora about a week ago because I had always wanted to try Kat Von D's makeup. First impression was that the palette itself is just gorgeous. There is so much detail on the case. Does anyone else think of Anna Sui when you see the front of the palette or is it just me?

I also love the eyeliner pencil that came with this palette; it's super creamy and stays on the waterline fine :)

Here is what Sephora says:

"What it is:
A palette with eight eye shadow colors and an eyeliner pencil.

What it does:
A smoky eye adds an instant air of mystery—create your own with the True Romance Eyeshadow Palette. Designed especially for Sephora by reality television star Kat Von D, this artistic spectrum of shades will bring a touch of edgy-glam to your look. The palette's sleek compact is stenciled with imagery inspired by an old-world romantic place and itself is a tattoo-inspired work of art."

What I love:

*The packaging is so classy and adorable at the same time.
*The color range is nice--perfect neutrals for everyday but also darks to make awesome nighttime looks.
*The colors are incredibly pigmented.
*Stays on ALL DAY.
*Pretty cheap: only $35.

What I don't love:

*There are too many shimmery colors and only ONE matte shade! :(

My Rating:

4/5

The only reason it looses a star is because of there being only one matte shade. I wanted this to be my go-to palette for when I go on trips and such but since there is only one matte color, it was a real let down. Other than that, I love this palette!

Would I repurchase?

Honestly, yes I definitely would and will probably be purchasing more of her palettes in the near future!

Do you own this palette or anything by Kat Von D? What do you think of it?

  1. Omigosh that was exactly what I was thinking when I first saw the palette, that it look like an Anna Sui case!! So pretty :) I love the colors, but it would be nice that it included more matte ones. Nonetheless, the golds and browns are all very pretty! Thanks for the review!

  2. You're right about the Anna Sui cover look-a-like. This palette reminds me a little of the Naked palette by Urban Decay, don't you think? I really love the colors, neutral and rich, yet I agree that matte tones are more suitable than shimmery ones :) perfect review!
    Good luck!
