Review: Kat Von D True Romance Palette-Saint

Hello everyone!

Today has been super productive for me. I made 2 sales in my Etsy store in less than 24 hours (huge accomplishment for me haha) and have been busy running around packing and shipping items off as well as selling all my books back to the school.

Since I didn't get to review this palette last Friday, I figured since today was so productive already, why not get more done? I apologize for the poor lighting--it's really gloomy and cloudy out today

First 4 colors: Heavens, Enjoy the Silence, <3, Downtown

Last 4 colors: Sunny, Pray for Me, Bookworm, Caravaggio

**I forgot to take a picture of the mini Autograph eyeliner pencil! Sorry!!

I bought this from Sephora about a week ago because I had always wanted to try Kat Von D's makeup. First impression was that the palette itself is just gorgeous. There is so much detail on the case. Does anyone else think of Anna Sui when you see the front of the palette or is it just me?

I also love the eyeliner pencil that came with this palette; it's super creamy and stays on the waterline fine :)

Here is what Sephora says:

"What it is:
A palette with eight eye shadow colors and an eyeliner pencil.

What it does:
A smoky eye adds an instant air of mystery—create your own with the True Romance Eyeshadow Palette. Designed especially for Sephora by reality television star Kat Von D, this artistic spectrum of shades will bring a touch of edgy-glam to your look. The palette's sleek compact is stenciled with imagery inspired by an old-world romantic place and itself is a tattoo-inspired work of art."

What I love:

*The packaging is so classy and adorable at the same time.
*The color range is nice--perfect neutrals for everyday but also darks to make awesome nighttime looks.
*The colors are incredibly pigmented.
*Stays on ALL DAY.
*Pretty cheap: only $35.

What I don't love:

*There are too many shimmery colors and only ONE matte shade! :(

My Rating:

4/5

The only reason it looses a star is because of there being only one matte shade. I wanted this to be my go-to palette for when I go on trips and such but since there is only one matte color, it was a real let down. Other than that, I love this palette!

Would I repurchase?

Honestly, yes I definitely would and will probably be purchasing more of her palettes in the near future!

Do you own this palette or anything by Kat Von D? What do you think of it?

Review: Sephora Base Sublimatrice Primer

Another review in the same day!

I was going to post both of these together but I was really tired and it was already 6 in the morning! My sleep schedule is very...wonky right now.

Here is a primer I have been using since earlier this spring. I decided to do a review on it since I haven't seen many reviews of this product online.

Swatch

Sephora actually does not carry this primer anymore it looks like (I just checked their website, no where to be found!) I'm guessing this is just a face primer that also doubles as a highlighter. Personally I just use this product for highlighting purposes only because when I try to use it as a primer, my face looks WAY too shiny! Almost on the borderline of appearing greasy. Yuck. Other than that, the shimmer in the primer is really nice. It's just right for highlighting the face and isn't sparkly at all.

What I like about it:

*It makes a great highlighter.
*Shimmer is JUST RIGHT.
*The packaging is quite cute actually.
*The price was awesome. I got this for $10.

What I don't like so much about it:

*Greasy if used as an all over face primer.

Overall, I would give this product a:

3/5

Mainly because I bought this thinking it was supposed to be an all over face primer instead of a highlighter. I know you can use it for both but I would much rather purchase a powder highlighter instead of this cream-like one.

Would I repurchase?

Honestly, I can't seeing as Sephora does not carry this product anymore!

Till next time!

Review: Laura Mercier Foundation Primer

Hi everyone, first review!

I decided to do my first review on a primer I have been using this year. I didn't have any daylight in order to do my lip reviews so that will have to wait till later on this week.

Sephora says:

"A lightweight, water-based gel foundation prep for dehydrated and/or aging skin. Foundation Primer - Hydrating protects and moisturizes the skin so your makeup goes on even and smooth. This hydrating, nourishing formula works with all skin types."

What I love about it:

*It does a great job at keeping my foundation and powders in place for the whole day!
*In the summer, it's a great alternative to silicone primers which tend to break people out.
*It's moisturizing!
*I love the packaging.

What I don't like too much about it:

*Lately, in the winter, it's actually been drying my face out which is really strange considering it moisturized my skin in the summer. Shouldn't it be the other way around?
*It's a bit difficult to blend liquid foundations onto my skin. I have tried several liquid foundations with this primer to see if it's just the brand of foundation but it's unfortunately not.
*Pricey but most good foundation primers are x.x

Overall, I give this product a:

4/5

Would I repurchase?

For my summertime foundation, yes definitely! However, in the winter, I'm going to stick with my silicone primers.

See you soon~!
